Lesson description

A slower, separate character track. Begin with 我 你 人 有; later use 不 看 听 说 and 去 来 水 茶. Work at your own pace rather than treating all twelve as one day's quota.

  1. Study a small set of characters

Choose four characters. Compare their shapes, say the syllable with its tone, and find them in a useful word or phrase. Handwriting is optional here and is not assessed by these cards.

  2. Characters → pronunciation

Say the pinyin and tone before flipping. Rate the pronunciation recall separately from meaning recall; this round contains just four characters.

  3. Characters → meaning

Look at the character without pinyin and recall its meaning. A character can be easy in this direction and hard in pronunciation, or vice versa.

  4. Try four character-only choices

Use the explanations after answering. These choices check recognition, not handwriting or spontaneous speech.
