The basics
What is Assist With Languages?
A place where your AI keeps what you know in a language, how you learned it, and what comes next. Your AI teaches and practices with you; Languages remembers, plays the activities your AI makes, and keeps your progress so any AI can pick up where you left off.
Does Languages teach me?
No. Your AI teaches. Languages is its memory of you and the place where its quizzes, decks, and readings become things you can actually use.
My AI is already good at languages. Why would I need this?
It is good, often remarkable. But each conversation starts fresh. It doesn't know which words you've mastered, which mistakes you keep making, or the plan you agreed on last month. Languages gives it that memory, so every session builds on the last one.
Which languages does it support?
Any language, including regional varieties, older forms, and scripts that read right to left. Your AI does the teaching, so the range is as wide as your AI's. Languages is built for many writing systems from day one.
Is this a course or an app like the ones with streaks?
Neither. There's no fixed curriculum and no streak to lose. You and your AI choose the method, and the site keeps an honest record of what you can do.
How much does it cost?
Nothing right now. Languages is in early use with a few friends and family. Some audio features are for Pro members, who are added by an admin.
Your AI
Which AI do I need?
Any AI app that can connect to a remote MCP server can use Languages' tools. Once connecting opens, the Connect page will list the apps we have tested end to end. Without a connection, you can still use the site directly and copy context into any AI.
What can my AI see and change?
When you connect and click Allow, your AI can read and save your Languages records. You can narrow or revoke access at any time on the connection page, and every change it makes is labelled with its name. It can never permanently delete your data.
What if I switch to a different AI?
Your languages, plans, evidence, recordings, and projects stay here. Connect the new AI and it reads the same record and continues.
Can I tell my AI how to talk to me?
Yes. Your AI Interaction Profile says how you want to be corrected, how hard to be pushed, and how much to explain. You write it, often with your AI's help. Languages stores it word for word and gives it to every AI you connect.
Does the site run its own AI?
No teaching AI of its own. Your AI does the thinking, teaching, and assessing. Languages checks simple answers like a flashcard or quiz, and Pro members can create saved audio with ElevenLabs, always labelled as generated.
Learning and progress
Will it tell me my level?
It shows your ability skill by skill (listening, speaking, reading, writing) with the evidence behind it. It can record a formal level you've earned, with its framework and date. It does not certify fluency.
If I get a word right once, have I learned it?
Not yet. One success adds evidence. Words move toward "usable" and "durable" through different kinds of evidence over time, such as recognizing, recalling, and using them on your own.
Which learning method does it use?
Whichever you and your AI choose. Your plan can follow a course, a teacher, a known method, or your own mix. The Library describes common approaches; it doesn't pick one for you.
Can my AI change what the site says I know?
It can save evidence and propose changes. You see every change, who made it, and why, and you can accept or correct it.
What happens if I stop for months?
Nothing is lost and nothing is punished. When you return, your AI sees what faded and what stayed, and plans from there.
Can I learn more than one language?
Yes. Each language, or each variety of one, gets its own space, plan, and history.
Reading, writing, and translation
Can I use it just for reading or translation?
Yes. The Reader and Projects work without a learning plan. Words you look up in a project stay there unless you choose to learn them.
Can I read a book side by side with a translation?
Yes. The Reader lines up the original and one or more translations sentence by sentence, with audio where available, and remembers your place.
Can I trust the translations?
Translations come from your AI, and they're labelled that way. For legal, medical, immigration, or safety-critical documents, have a qualified human translator check the result.
Voice and pronunciation
Can I practice speaking?
Speaking activities are being built: you'll record yourself, your AI reviews the recording, and your recordings stay together so you can hear your progress. Today every word and card has a play button using your device's own voice.
Is my accent being judged?
No accent is treated as the correct one. You choose the variety you're aiming for, and feedback says what it compared against and how sure it is.
Privacy and your data
Who can see my recordings and writing?
Only you and the AI apps you connect. Everything is private by default. Nothing is shared unless you share it on purpose.
Can I export or delete everything?
Yes. You can export your data or delete it permanently. Deleting is always your action, never your AI's.
